Last September 21, JGNavarro and Azicuetano were in the VIII edition of RetroAlacant as developers showing the progress of Malasombra. In these lines we are going to relate the events that happened thereā¦
In this VIII edition, RetroAlacant has managed to exceed all our expectations, which were already high, so the merit is unquestionable. Our congratulations to Jorge Selfa and the rest of the organizing team for such a feat!
Rafa Castillo, in Alicante, plays local. Javier GarcĆa Navarro came from Madrid and we could not think of a better way to start the weekend than with a few beers and tapas in the area of the Central Market of Alicante with Juan Carlos GonzĆ”lez Amestoy (father of Retro Virtual Machine). Good talk and better company!
RetroAlacant is an event that has grown in quality year after year, and we can attest that it is very worthwhile. In the main hall were the developers showing their new creations and a spectacular exhibition of Amstrad computers (and I think it’s going for a record, gentlemen). In the outside area you could find exhibitions of arcade machines, retro stores of all kinds and even a foodtruck where you could stock up on food. All this enlivened with eighties music. The atmosphere was incredible, just take a look at the photos to get an idea.
RetroAlacant has managed to exceed all our expectations, which were already high, so the merit is unquestionable.
Best of all, having the opportunity to meet again with great friends like Carlos PerezgrĆn (developer and divulger), Javy FernĆ”ndez (DD Studios), Sejuan (Retrowoks) and Miko, both from ARCAIC, Victor from ESPectrum and JosĆ© LuĆs SĆ”nchez from ZXBaremulator, JosĆ© Antonio Quijada (Perales) along with a large delegation from Cartagena, the good Bruno Sol (editor specialized in the video game industry) and the immeasurable JosĆ© Luis RodrĆguez (VidaExtraRetro), to whom, by the way, we owe some beers. .. š
Javier and Rafa were all the time at their booth, at the foot of the cannon, collecting impressions of the players who ventured to taste Malasombra. This time we had JosƩ from Catcade (Freddy Farmer) as our booth neighbor, with whom we shared curious anecdotes about videogame development.
This year we also had the presence of the illustrious Roland Perry. The video of the interview with Roland, recorded a year ago, which Javier and Rafa had the pleasure of watching live, was presented exclusively. More than an hour of carefully post-produced interview with Spanish subtitles. An exquisite work of Las Cosas Retro that you can not miss: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTsCiZ3ZBD4. Here you have last year’s post about RetroAlacant 2023, where we tell more details and curiosities about this historic interview.
Of course, the offer to set the event was tremendous, like the chiptune concert by Narcisound, retroKaraoke with DJ playing hits from the 70′, 80′ and 90′, cosplay with retro-eighties and Marvel characters, Street Fighter II contest and more things that we surely forgetā¦
What we won’t forget for sure will be the nice moments we enjoyed among friends and acquaintances. See you in 2025!!!!
