NES development conference at Retropolis 2023

1 de May de 2023by 4MHz

Retropolis has always had a powerful appeal for 4MHz. Valencia is an ideal place for guys from Madrid, Barcelona and Alicante to get together live and chat about their stuff face to face.

This past edition of Retropolis we had the great honour of being invited by Jorge GonzƔlez, a.k.a. @jgonza_, to give a talk as part of the cultural programme that surrounds the event. And as we are rather easy-going, we packed our bags and went there with pleasure.

There we had the opportunity to show the current development of Malasombra on a real NES to everyone who stopped by our stand. On this occasion we were especially interested in finding out how an average player would cope in the early stages of the game. We had some doubts about whether the difficulty would be too high or if the path to follow would be confusingā€¦

And well, everything can always be improved, but we were quite satisfied to see how well most of the players managed šŸ™‚ It seems that, in this aspect, the great debates we’ve had are helping to clarify certain critical points where we were quite uncertain. Finally, we were happy to see the result of this particular test.

For our talk in front of the audience, we considered several candidate topics, but before long we were all clear about the ideal approach: to talk about the NES, its possibilities and its restrictions, and to illustrate with our own examples. We also reserved some space to share with the audience our development system, which we think is always a curious thing to learn about.

In our Press Clippings section you have available the talk, courtesy of Retropolis and the audiovisual media team of the Universidad PolitƩcnica de Valencia. Click here to access the entry in question.

And as usual, here you have our graphic chronicle of the event:
